Ep 84 – Fall Haul: Everything Worth Buying, Right Now

September 25, 2019

Fall is here, the leaves are turning — and our top shelf is about to get turnt up! We tested dozens of the latest launches to bring you our absolute faves of the season. These are the products that are officially #damngood aka definitely worth the spend. Jill sets it off with a review of It Cosmetics Salon Volume Lift Mascara, a collab with the hair geniuses at Drybar (if you haven’t listened to our founder episode with Drybar’s mastermind Alli Webb, you really should!) Next, Carlene gets out of her eye shadow comfort zone with a surprise influencer collab hit (pssst….. the price is so good on this one, too!)

And then, Jill enlightens us with a minimalist brow pen that promises not to dump too much pigment on with a single stroke, because when that happens, it’s impossible to tone down the Groucho Marks effect when you’re trying to dash out the door! We haven’t forgotten about lips. Carlene reviews the best long-lasting lipsticks of the season— one that promises comfort and shine, and she highlights a super pigmented matte crayon that happens to be cheaper than a sandwich.

Carlene wears Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon and a top secret foundation we’ll be discussing next week

Truth: soooo many foundations launched this month, you’ll have to wait until next week when we dedicate an entire episode to all things ever mighty FOUNDATION. However, your humble hosts have you covered on the skincare front. Jill introduces a luxury foaming cleanser that (Eureka!) won’t dry out your face, while Carlene discovers an ultra hydrating 2-in-1 K-Beauty innovation that combines a softening toner and daily moisturizer in one shot. Coming in hot with another smart invention to reduce fine lines and help acne, Jill ponders a first-to-market retinol peel that swipes on in a handy cotton pad. The new luxury brightening hand creams, a hair powder that really does give you Amy Winehouse-style height and hold— you won’t want to miss the gems in this listen-before-you-shop episode!
