Romanian-born beauty entrepreneur Anastasia Soare fled communism in the late 1980s and moved to Los Angeles—not knowing a word of English—where she launched a beauty empire. She was the first aesthetician to patent the Golden Ratio Eyebrow Shaping Method, which quickly caught the attention of Hollywood elite (Cindy Crawford was her first client ever.) Anastasia was propelled into the spotlight on The Oprah Winfrey Show and later launched her namesake brand with a Beverly Hills flagship salon in 1997, going on to to create the company’s revolutionary product line in 2000. The first to create makeup and stencils especially for eyebrows, her cult classic, DipBrow Pomade is still a stand-out today.

But how did the brow guru succeed in parlaying her eyebrow business into a billion dollar brand now just as renowned for its sell-out contour and eyeshadow palettes? Carlene and Jill get to the bottom of LA’s biggest makeup sensation, now poised for international domination (Just ask a Kardashian, okay?). Oh, and don’t miss your co-hosts personal takes on the latest makeup palette, Sultry, along with their tips on how to use the OG brow product that made Anastasia Beverly Hills so famous.

It's not often that a true beauty invention comes along, setting a new standard and spawning legions of knock-offs. But that's exactly what happened when the awesome Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND, shook the beauty industry with the first-ever hybrid gel polish, Shellac, back in 2010. Suddenly, women could walk out of nail salons in seconds, grabbing their keys without a worry in the world about damaging their perfect, gel-look manicure—that could last up to an astonishing four weeks.

Fast-forward to summer 2018 and CND—short for Creative Nail Design—has introduced Shellac Luxe, a new alternative promising faster removal (the O.G. takes ten minutes of in-salon acetone removal). Stay tuned until the end of the episode to hear Jill and Carlene's candid review on how this edition does—or straight doesn't—measure up... Plus, get an earful about the Insta-bait outfit, designed by The Blonds, that Jan Arnold wore to introduce Luxe to nail pros!

But the mind-blowing doesn't stop there. Find out how innovation has been baked into CND's DNA from its very first invention, born out of her father's dentist's office forty years ago. More beauty trivia: CND pretty much invented the concept of nail trends backstage at Fashion Week. Don't miss the ballsy moment responsible for changing the way designers like Oscar de la Renta, Alexander Wang—and let's face it, the world—would come to embrace high-fashion nails, ultimately leading to what we now know as nail art today.

RMS Beauty Breaking Beauty Podcast

Listen Here. Get ready for our most unfiltered founder yet! Rose-Marie Swift took the beauty world by the balls, screamed in its face, and caused a frenzy with one of the first "green" makeup lines back in 2009. Her website, beautytruth.com, set out to educate the masses about toxic ingredients in makeup and skincare, putting her career as a celebrity makeup artist on the line. Is it any wonder given the Vancouver-born celebrity makeup artist started out as a punk singer??

Her iconic best-seller, Living Luminzer, was born out of her experience giving the original Victoria's Secret angels—Miranda Kerr and Gisele Bundchen—their heavenly glow. Standing the test of time among the gazillions of highlighting products that have launched since, Living Luminizer is what Meghan Markle chose to get her radiance on for her royal wedding! We walk you through the best-seller's first two shade extensions.
